My Philosophy of Teaching

Learning, one of the most vital activities of life, occurs in diverse ways and circumstances all around the word. It can occur while someone is taking a walk, watching TV, sitting in a classroom, and performing any other activity. Humans learn by discovering new things and inquiring about things they do not know. When learning occurs, people begin to acquire new skills and facts or build upon their existing knowledge. Learning simply is the way humans expand their knowledge and ability to perform new skills. It is evident that learning has occurred when someone knows new skills, ideas, facts, etc. or sees the world and things in it differently. In the classroom, learning, an activity that is constantly molding humanity and continuously changing humans, occurs through experiences as well as practicing new things.

Education is vital to our lives because it prepares children and adults for life by equipping them with educational knowledge and basic life skills. Schools are a place where students are given a large amount of time to expand their knowledge and learn about significant things in life. Without the skills learned in school, humanity would not be prepared for simple tasks such as teamwork, reading, writing, and counting money. However, people can be educated in places other than classrooms and school buildings. Learning can occur in a garden, at a basketball game, or on a road trip for example. The purpose of education is to prepare students for a career, to contribute to the economy, and to improve and reach one’s intellectual ability and potential.

My classroom will be one where students are given a foundation encompassing academic knowledge and life skills. In addition, my classroom will be one that fosters equality, engages all students, and instills a love of learning. The classroom will also be a safe learning environment that encourages growth of a child’s creativity, talents, and abilities. As a teacher, I will get to know my students and understand that all students are unique, while also being sensitive to differences and the social standards that everyone faces. The environment will be both positive and colorful. The students will have many choices in the classroom where lesson plans are unique and engaging, and the classroom will also reflect the world and instill a knowledge of different cultures in my students. I will encourage technology use in the classroom as well as an environment full of hands on activities and group work. To me, the most important part of the classroom is that it has an atmosphere that encourages learning and growing as well as acceptance and a global worldview.
